Flor de Caña Open: August 28 - September 3, 2017

The PGA Tour Latinoamerica made its first visit ever to Nicaragua last September for the inaugural playing of the Flor de Caña Open.

This new event was launched during a press conference held on Wednesday in the capital city of Managua. The tournament was held at our own Guacalito de la Isla, a world class venue located on the shores of Nicaragua’s stunning Emerald Coast – about 75 miles south of Managua.

The Flor de Caña Open week started with a Monday Qualifier played in Managua’s Nejapa Country Club on August 29. Ten successful entrants from the qualifier completed a 144-man field to battle for the title at the David McLay Kidd designed golf course at Guacalito de la Isla starting on September 1st.

A professional tournament of this caliber is a first in Nicaragua, which became the fourth Central American nation to join PGA TOUR Latinoamérica.

“We feel very honored for this opportunity the PGA TOUR has given us to have a PGA TOUR Latinoamérica event in Nicaragua. It’s an event that will definitely put our country on the international golf map,” said Gustavo Betancourt, the golf director at Guacalito de la Isla.

The next event of the Flor de Caña Open is scheduled for August 28-September 3, 2017.
